Distinguished professorships recognize the outstanding research accomplishments of our faculty. The title of Distinguished Professor is conferred on an individual by the University Board of Trustees in recognition of exceptional scholarly achievement. A Carolina Distinguished Professorship is one of the highest honors USC accords any faculty member. Since it is a university-wide honor, those honored with the title Carolina Distinguished Professor are among the most outstanding scholars nationally and most are internationally known in their fields. An endowed professorship is one of the highest honors the Department of Medicine can bestow on a faculty member, recognizing our most accomplished scientists and educators. Endowed professorships honor exceptional achievement and assist in the recruitment or retention of the highest quality faculty for the Department of Medicine.
